KPIG
The legend of KPIG radio was actually born in 1975, in Gilroy, CA, as the freeform KFAT, programmed by Laura Ellen Hopper. From this modest base, the station developed a loyal following of listeners who enjoyed the broad playlists and knowledgeable, irreverent announcers that created an Adult Album Alternative format that just seemed to fit with their lifestyles. In 1988, the station was moved to Santa Cruz, and relaunched as KPIG, where it immediately attracted a well-educated, upscale audience. In 1995, KPIG became a worldwide phenomena, as one of the first stations to stream on the web. Soon thereafter, the awards started to pile up, and KPIG became one of the best-known independent radio stations in the industry.
KPIG is one of the last U.S. radio formats to play non-chart driven AAA/Americana music, hand-picked by announcers that program their own shows, around the clock. Here, classic mainstream artists like the Eric Clapton, the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, the Allman Brothers and Los Lobos, alongside tastemakers like John Hiatt, Steve Earle, Joan Osborne and Bonnie Raitt, and talented newcomers like Jack Johnson, Son Volt, Ben Harper and Robert Earl Keen are woven together by announcers with quirky senses of humor and deep musical knowledge. Throw in live performances on Sunday's special program "Please Stand By," regular artist visits and a certain unique attitude, and your listeners will describe your station as more than their favorite...but rather, as their lifestyle.
Now, you can get all the magic and experience that is KPIG, combined with formatics that allow you to make this award-winning entertainment brand available to sponsors in your market, on your main channel, or, through a creative new arrangement, on your HD channel.
Tune in, Turn on, Pig out. With KPIG, from Dial Global Digital 24/7 Formats.
